Romanian Mac n’ Cheese (Macaroane cu branza)

    February 27, 2022 /

My mom was an amazing cook. She was an inspiration and the main reason why I became passionate about food. She would cook our traditional Romanian recipes in a way that no one ever did before. Everything tasted like an explosion of flavors. She was able to cook pretty much everything, going from sarmale to cakes, sushi and all kinds of soups. However, my favorite recipe will always be her special Mac n' Cheese. It has the power of soothing me, feeling like a hug from the inside out. Today, I am sharing her recipe with you, hoping it will make you feel the same way.

These cheesy and delicious breadsticks are one of my favorite snacks. We call them "saratele" in Romanian. We usually make during the holidays, but can be enjoyed throughout the year. They turn out to be a success among my entourage every time.
